Dr. Julie Thums
Dr. Julie Thums attended Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Pre-Med and Biology. She then graduated from The Ohio State University College of Optometry with her Doctorate of Optometry degree. Dr. Thums joined the HealthView Eye Care Center-Medford staff in July of 2004. She and her husband Pete enjoy living in Medford and are active in the community. They have three sons, Fischer, Stanley and Marty that keep them very busy outside of the office. Dr. Thums also enjoys cooking, flying and all things fitness.
Dr. Betsy Meinel
Dr. Betsy (Berends) Meinel was born and raised in Medford and attended the Medford Area Public Schools. Her undergraduate studies were done at the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse, and she then attended the Illinois College of Optometry where she received her Doctorate of Optometry degree, graduating Magna Cum Laude. In addition to providing comprehensive eye care to patients of all ages, Dr. Meinel has a special interest in pediatrics, myopia control and contact lenses.
Outside of the office, Dr. Meinel is active in the community as head coach for the Medford Senior High girls swim team, she also enjoys playing with her dog, watching baseball, baking and traveling. Dr. Meinel and her husband Andrew are happy to call Medford their home.
Dr. Mathew Mergenthaler
Dr. Mathew Mergenthaler was born and raised near La Crosse, WI. He completed his Bachelor of Science in Biology at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and attended the Illinois College of Optometry where he received his Doctorate of Optometry graduating with clinical distinction. His clinical passions include dry eye, glaucoma, visual complications after a concussion, and how conditions from other parts of the body can affect the eye. Dr. Mergenthaler enjoys hiking, fishing, camping, woodworking, and all things baseball. Outside of the clinic, you might find him in the woods, on the sand, or anywhere but the fairway at a golf course.
Dr. Cord Linville
Dr. Cord Linville grew up in Jefferson City, MO. After graduating high school, he received his undergraduate degree in biology from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Dr. Linville then earned his optometric degree from the University of Missouri-St. Louis College of Optometry. He has been active in community health care clinics, educational facilities and veteran’s vision care. In addition to providing for the eye care needs of your family, his interests also include ocular disease, contact lenses and dry eye.
Dr. Linville and his wife Kristine, a Wisconsin Native, recently moved to the central Wisconsin area with their dog and cat In his spare time, Dr. Linville enjoys golfing, boating, fishing, hunting and everything outdoors.
